Taking care of each other as well as business

We are extremely committed to everyone in our Sigma team. We are characterized by our care for each other, for our customers, and for the world around us. We have substantial technical expertise, and we love doing business. We are proactive and we always look for new solutions. It’s what you do that count – not what you say. Our experience has taught us that it’s the ability to deliver that makes a difference. By working with interesting projects and clients, we grow as individuals and as a company. Customer trust is what provides us with new commissions, which in turn makes it possible for us to take the next step towards a better tomorrow.

We are engineering the digital revolution

The need for new technology and digital applications is increasing everywhere and we are constantly investing in developing solutions for a better and more digital tomorrow.

We see an ever-growing demand for technology development, digital solutions and the expertise that connects the two. Industry 4.0 is here and is a revolution in itself, and the need for digital and connected applications and new technology are everywhere. Even the most traditionally analogue industries have made or are undergoing a digital transition. And we are happy to be able to contribute to this exciting change.

The digital revolution is going fast, and we are constantly working to sharpen our offer and our delivery methods so that we can be even better and more fast-paced in helping to equip our clients for the digital future. By doing so we continue to contribute to a better tomorrow, a more digital tomorrow.

Let's take it from the beginning

In 1986 Sapia AB is founded, and Dan Olofsson is commissioned to build up the technology consulting part. Six years later, in 1993, Dan Olofsson acquired the technical consulting part from Sapia AB, which was the start of Sigma AB. The following year, 1997, the business has 600 employees, and we are introduced to the Stockholm Stock Exchange's O-list.

In 2001, we more than quintupled the number of employees. Sigma then had 3,300 in the business, which was divided into three new companies: Teleca (which was sold to the Symphony Group in 2008), Epsilon (which was acquired by ÅF AB in 2012) and new Sigma.

It continues to go well for us and both in 2003 and 2004 we are named "Sweden’s Best IT Consultant" by Veckans Affärer, a Swedish business magazine, which conducts an annual survey among 200 of Sweden’s IT buyers.

At Sigma, we care about each other and the world around us and a strong symbol of these values is Star for Life, which Dan and Christin Olofsson started in 2005 in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The aim is to fight HIV and AIDS among young people in southern Africa. And we have ever since the start been the project’s main sponsor.

In 2007 and 2009, we receive further confirmation that we have a good relationship with our customers. These years, we are rewarded with the Data Association’s “Diamond”, which goes to the IT consultant who best understands the customers’ needs.

2013 is a special year for us at Sigma. Our main owner Danir AB buys Sigma from the Stockholm Stock Exchange. We also acquire Sony Mobile’s development unit for cell phone hardware in Lund. The new company is named Sigma Connectivity and becomes one of Sigma’s three business areas.

The following year, 2014, the business is divided into six business areas: Sigma IT Consulting, Sigma Technology, Sigma Connectivity, Sigma Industry, Sigma Civil and Sigma Software.

In 2016 we celebrate our company’s 30th anniversary by stating that we, since the exit from the stock exchange, have started 17 new companies and have over 3,000 employees.

We continue to grow organically with approximately 600 employees per year and by the end of 2019, we passed a milestone of 5,000 employees. Sigma Group now consists of 57 companies with offices in thirteen countries.

At the beginning of 2021, our main owner Danir launch a new structure where their consulting-oriented businesses will be formed on four platforms to promote continued growth and expansion. Sigma IT, which has been part of Sigma, now forms its own group called Nexer. As we at Sigma are one of these platforms, we now can continue our focus on engineering and our unique skill of combining that with digital solutions.
